Euclid’s Elements – Book 1 – Definitions, definition XXII, simply says:
“A quadrilateral figure is one which is bounded by four sides.”
So any four sided shape is a quadrilateral. The shape I use in this piece is a form of a quadrilateral that Euclid describes as a kite. Yes, it’s the shape your thinking of, like the traditional flying kite shape.
Per Wikipedia:
In Euclidean geometry, a kite is a quadrilateral whose four sides can be grouped into two pairs of equal-length sides that are adjacent to each other. In contrast, a parallelogram also has two pairs of equal-length sides, but they are opposite to each other rather than adjacent.
The diagonals of a kite are always perpendicular to each other.
“Model Citizens” are unique yet at the same time, in structure, much the same. As unique individuals, all respect their differences and care for the common good. “Model Citizens” have a wi-fi antenna, a symbol for a new age of modernity. We’re apart but not disconnected. Encircling each other through technology in a way unprecedented in history, we’re together.
A collective effort is needed to starve covid-19 of hosts. We need to be model citizens. We need to protect each other. We need to practice social distancing.
It’s our civic duty.
Be good citizens.
It’s a matter of life and death

Because of the pandemic, as is the case with everyone else who was slated to have an exhibition opening, the exhibition “The Shape of Things” with artist Diane Di Bernardino Sanborn at Water Street Studios, Batavia Illinois (suburb of Chicago) has been cancelled.
Along with Diane Sanborn’s beautiful abstract paintings I was going to show 10 new works on cut-out metal and acrylic. Shape is an overriding theme in both our work. Her paintings have enigmatic shapes as well as shaped color fields. What’s most important is the health, safety and welfare of everyone. I wish all of you out there to stay healthy throughout this pandemic crisis.
